This guided practice helps you to systematically scan your awareness through your body, noticing and gently releasing stored tension you may not even be aware of. In our busy professional lives, we spend a great deal of time in our heads, often disconnected from the physical signals our bodies are sending us. The Body Scan is a foundational mindfulness practice designed to rebuild this vital mind-body connection. It offers a direct pathway to releasing accumulated physical tension, which is inextricably linked to mental stress. This is not a muscle-tensing and releasing exercise. Instead, it is a practice in pure awareness. You will be guided to move your attention systematically through your entire body, region by region, simply noticing the sensations that are present without judgment. This process enhances interoception, your ability to sense your body's internal state, which is a key skill for emotional regulation. This session is perfect for anyone who feels physically tense or disconnected from their body. You will leave feeling more grounded, centred, and deeply relaxed, armed with a powerful technique to decompress and improve your sleep quality. Class Schedule: 1. Welcome & Introduction: We’ll begin by introducing the Body Scan as a powerful practice for releasing stored physical tension and enhancing mind-body connection. 2. First Guided Meditation: A Mindfulness of Breath in the Body practice, feeling the subtle movements and sensations of the breath throughout the torso to start tuning into the body. 3. The 'Why' of Interoception: A brief, clear explanation of how improving our awareness of internal body signals can help us to better regulate our nervous system's response to stress. 4. Main Guided Meditation: The guided Body Scan Meditation, where you'll be led on a gentle but focused journey of awareness through your entire body, region by region. 5. Integration & Closing: We’ll conclude with key insights on how to use this grounding practice to unwind after a long day and prepare for restful sleep.
