In this class, we move beyond the simple idea of "feeling for others" and into the practical, trainable skill of Compassion. The session is structured to build this skill from the inside out. We begin with a ten-minute Self-Compassion practice. This is the crucial foundation, you cannot pour from an empty cup, and this practice builds the inner resources and kindness needed to effectively support others.

 

After exploring the science, we move into the main twenty-minute guided Loving-Kindness Meditation, where you will actively practice extending feelings of goodwill, support, and understanding to your team and colleagues.

How Mindfulness Meditation for Leadership Works

For leaders, the distinction between "empathy" and "compassion" is a critical performance tool. Research shows that simple empathy, vicariously feeling the distress of others, can lead to "empathy fatigue" and burnout, as it activates pain-related networks in the brain.
 

Compassion, however, is defined as the feeling of warmth and care for another's suffering, combined with a strong motivation to help.
